Indology and Tibetology
The academic subject "Indology" focuses primarily on the languages and cultures of the Indian Subcontinent from the second millenium BCE up to the present, but extends its interests to what the historian William Dalrymple now calls the "Indosphere" (as for instance Buddhism in Tibet).
In Marburg, our language focus is on Sanskrit, Hindi, Newar, Tibetan and Pali, the range of topics studied is not easily narrowed down and best reviewed under the rubric research.
