Team and Coaches
The new team for the 30th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court consists of Calvin, Derya, Leo and Martin. We are very excited to tackle this challenge together as a team. This project will provide us with valuable experience that will significantly shape our future careers. We are looking forward to what awaits us, especially in the oral hearings.
The Team
Derya Coban, 22, is currently in her fourth semester of law at the University of Marburg. She will be in her fifth semester of law while participating in the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot Court. Her interests in participating in international projects and discussing with like-minded people developed during her time in high school. She already had the opportunity to gain first international experiences in the context of several Erasmus projects and a student exchange to the US. By participating in the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot Court, she hopes to grow beyond her social and professional skills and gain new valuable experience for her studies. She enjoys spending her free time in nature, with friends and loves to draw.
Martin Gosmann is 24 years old and studies law in his seventh semester at the University of Marburg. Most recently, he completed a semester abroad in South Korea at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, where he discovered his enthusiasm for business law in an international context. By participating in the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot Court, he hopes to gain first practical experience on an international level together with his teammates and to improve his rhetorical and argumentative skills in English. He is also looking forward to making new contacts and learning from legal practitioners through the exchange of expertise. In his free time, Martin plays tennis and enjoys spending time with his friends.
Calvin Kraft Lino, 21 years old, is a law student at the University of Marburg and will participate in the 30th Willem C. Vis Moot Court in his 5th semester. After graduating from high school, he completed an internship with a lawyer from the Karlsruhe area and was able to gain valuable experience for his entry into law school. He discovered his interest in private law at an early stage. Calvin believes that international legal contexts are indispensable for his future professional life. He hopes that by participating in the Willem C. Vis Moot Court he will gain important insights that he can later put into practice. In his free time, he enjoys sports, meeting friends from his study group and riding his motorcycle.
Leo Vollert, 21 years old, studies law at the University of Marburg. He participates in the Willem C. Vis Moot Court in his fifth semester. Globalization, especially topics concerning international commercial law, is one of his main interests. Even if not exclusively, his passion also focuses in civil law during his studies. Besides his studies, he works at the institute of public law of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Detlef Horn. In his free time, Leo is engaged in creative, craft and sports activities, in particular, he has discovered screen printing. For his future career, Leo hopes to develop his linguistic, social, and professional skills.
The coaches
for the Marburg team for the 30th Vis Moot Court 2022/23 are Ferdinand Gypser and Milena Schmid.
Ferdinand Gypser, 21 years old, studies law in his sixth semester at the University of Marburg. He participated at the 29th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court in 2021/2022 where he gained unique experiences together with his team. Thereby, he was able to enhance his legal skills and to develop personally. Now he is looking forward to pass on his knowledge to the next team. Alongside his studies he works at the institute of civil and roman law. Ferdinand spends his free time mostly with friends and practices capoeira.
Milena Schmid, 22, currently studies law at the University of Marburg in the sixth semester. After graduating from school, she completed a voluntary year of social service in the administration of the State Parliament of Hesse, which allowed her to gain her first valuable work experience. She participated in the 29th Vis Moot (2021/2022). Now she is excited to support this year’s team as a coach and to accompany the team through the exciting journey.
