In order to enable data markets and create or increase trust in data exchange, the EU is pursuing the goal of promoting the emergence of trustworthy data trustees, particularly with the Data Governance Act. With EuroDaT GmbH, which was founded by the state of Hesse (https://www.eurodat.org/), the first such intermediary for financial data was recently established. As a result of the widespread promotion of a networked data infrastructure for a European digital ecosystem as part of Gaia-X funding, similar developments are also foreseeable in numerous other sectors. The presentation will shed light on the corporate and contractual framework of such data trustees.
