Security against Genocide - Emergence and Enforcement of the International Condemnation of Genocide

1. Funding period (2014-2017)

The subproject focuses on networks of East-Central European actors who played an important role in the international (criminal) legal debate on how to deal with the threat of "crimes de barbarie" in the 1920s and 1930s. The thesis is that it was only through this controversial process of securitization that the foundations were laid for the later legalization of the punishment of genocide.
