The Collection
The distinctiveness of the museum lies in the fact that the collection includes objects from around the world, inviting a comparative study of religions in order to reach a better understanding of multiple religious traditions. Research on the provenance and biographies of the artifacts, and conceptualization of new exhibits comprise the most important areas of work for the museum. By maintaining contact with people from the religious traditions and geographical sources of the various objects, the museum is able to gain information on an object’s history, origins and uses. Concepts for exhibitions are then developed using this information, and the museum becomes a place where new and old knowledge is collected and passed on to visitors.
