Application for acceptance as a doctoral student

At the beginning of your doctorate, you must be accepted by the department as a doctoral candidate in order to be admitted to the examination procedure at a later date. However, enrollment at the Philipps-Universität Marburg is not mandatory.

Please note that the application for acceptance and the supervision agreement must be signed by all persons in original.

After your self-registration with MARVIN, you must submit a written application with the following documents:

  • formalized letter to the doctoral committee
  • final degree certificates (BSc&MSc, certified copies or submission of the original documents)
  • Copy of the higher education/university entrance qualification (usually Abitur certificate)
  • Working titel of your thesis
  • Supervision agreement (originally signed)
  • Curriculum vitae (academic)
  • Project outline with timeline
  • Proof of MARVIN registration
  • Copy of your passport/ID-card
