The continuation of the Russian war of aggression and the terrorisation of the Ukrainian population raises the question of what perspectives there are for ending the violence and initiating a peace process. We want to discuss this question with two experts who have a great deal of international experience in ending conflicts and have recently also been or are involved in Ukraine:

Dr Mariia Levchenko is active as a peacebuilder in Ukraine and worldwide. She is part of the first and largest peacebuilding initiative in Ukraine since the war began, Peace Support Ukraine. Mariia is a McCain Global Fellow 2022 and a Peacebuilding Officer at the Romanian Peace Institute (PATRIR). Before the war in Ukraine, she worked as a Dialogue Facilitation Officer at the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). She is the recipient of the Luxembourg Peace Prize 2023 for outstanding peace activists.

Dr Jose Pascal da Rocha was the OSCE Dialogue Facilitation Officer in Ukraine, where he supported the monitoring teams and interested international and national actors in the dialogue. He is currently a political advisor with the EU delegation in Chad and also supported the political talks between the government of Papua New Guinea and the autonomous government of Bougainville. Pascal has participated in numerous peace operations and worked on 16 peace agreements. He also lectures on negotiation, peacebuilding and change management at Columbia University in New York and the IESEG School of Management Lille/Paris.

The discussion will take place on Tuesday, 11.07. from 10-12 a.m. The room is +1/0010 in Hörsaalgebäude, Biegenstraße 14.
The event will be held in English.
