Eligibility assessment process
- Intercultural Business Studies (M.Sc.)

1. Documents to be submitted

The following documents and certifications are required for participation in the eligibility assessment process:

a) Application for admission (online application submitted via the online admission portal)

b) Proof of completion of a relevant Bachelor's degree programme in the field of "Economics" or a comparable domestic or foreign university degree that qualifies the student for a profession.

c) Proof of basic economic knowledge with a focus on business studies as well as methodological competence (e.g. Transcript of Records).

d) Proof of English language skills at level B2 as well as another foreign language at level A2 according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" of the Council of Europe.

e) Curriculum vitae in tabular form

f) A letter of approx. 2 DIN-A 4 pages in which the applicant explains his/her eligibility for the subject and in particular which of the business management specialisations the applicant would like to choose in the Intercultural Business Studies Master's programme.

g) If applicable, further evidence of personal subject-related eligibility which relates to the aforementioned letter.

2. Criteria for personal subject-related eligibility

The personal subject-related eligibility is assessed on the basis of the submitted documents using the following criteria A total of up to 10 eligibility points can be achieved.

Final grade

Up to 4 eligibility points are awarded for the final grade or, if the final grade is not yet available, a submitted, calculated average grade based on at least 80% of the credit points required for the Bachelor's degree according to the following key:

Grade points 13.0 to 15.0 (grade 1.3 - 0.7)=> 4 points

Grade points 11.9 to 12.9 (grade 1.7 - 1.4)=> 3 points

Grade points 10.3 to 11.8 (grade 2.2 - 1.8)=> 2 points

Grade points 9.5 to 10.2 (grade 2.5 - 2.3)=> 1 point

Cultural competences or experiences
Up to 2 eligibility points are awarded towards the credit points in the intercultural academic field, acquired professional experience or study abroad.

1 point may be awarded for work experience and study abroad. If 2 points have already been obtained for credit points in the intercultural academic field, no further points will be awarded for work experience or study abroad.
- Credit points in the intercultural academic field
  The intercultural academic field includes modules from the fields of ethics, ethnology, geography, history, art history as well as economics with a regional focus (e.g. Near and Middle East). Credit points in the intercultural academic field are awarded according to the following formula:
  
  24 or more credit points = 2 points
  18 to under 24 credit points = 1 point
- Work experience
  Work experience is defined as work experience of at least 6 months acquired following or as part of the Bachelor's degree programme. 3 months is sufficient for vocational work abroad. Teaching and internships are not taken into account.
- Studying abroad
  Studying abroad means studying at a foreign university for at least three months, whereby the chosen modules must stem from a comparable university degree that qualifies the student for a profession. A simple stay abroad is not accepted.
Methodological skills

Up to 2 additional eligibility points are awarded for the credit points in methodology:
If more than 10 credit points have been earned in the fields of mathematics, statistics, operations research, econometrics or empirical economic research, additional eligibility points are awarded for the methodological competences as follows:

18 or more credit points = 2 points
12 to under 18 credit points = 1 point
Third foreign language

A further point can be obtained by providing evidence of a third foreign language at at least A2 level of the Council of Europe's "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages", or knowledge of the second required foreign language at a higher level, i.e. at least level B1 of the Council of Europe's "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages".
Letter of Suitability/Curriculum Vitae

A maximum of 1 eligibility point will be awarded for the letter according to 1. f): In the letter with the accompanying curriculum vitae, the applicant should explain his/her subject-related and personal suitability and justify his/her expectations for taking up a Master of Science degree programme in "Intercultural Business Studies" at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the Philipps-Universität Marburg. In this context, particular attention should be paid to the choice of one of the three specialisations ("Accounting and Finance", "Market-Oriented Corporate Management" or "Information and Innovation Management"). The binding decision on the main focus is made during the degree programme. The information provided as part of the eligibility assessment process is not binding.
