MarMento - Mentoring Program for International Students

(c): colourbox.de

Would you like to strengthen your intercultural skills and make new contacts? To learn more about intercultural communication processes and discover and develop new potential? Then become a mentor or mentee in the MarMento mentoring program!

At MarMento, students from higher semesters (mentors) support their new fellow students from abroad (mentees) for a semester with study-related challenges or in everyday life. This can make it easier to settle in at the university and in Marburg and perhaps even to make friends.

MarMento is a win-win process in which you deepen your skills and grow personally as both a mentee and a mentor!

    • Requirements: you come from abroad, are at the beginning of your studies (Degree Seeker), are motivated and open-minded
    • Duration: 1 semester (only takes place in the winter term)
    • Registration: Ilias online form
    • Registration period: every year in September
    • Program: Introductory workshop for all mentees (digital), mentoring in tandem/small groups (digital or face-to-face), final workshop for all participants (digital)

Students who have MarSkills integrated into their degree program can take the module "MarMento: International Mentoring Skills" via the central study area in MarSkills and earn 3 ECTS points for participating in the seminar and engaging as a mentor. Registration for the modul runs via Marvin. In the course catalog under "MarSkills Center" you will find "Marburg Skills" and in "Zentrale Angebote des Studienbereichs Marburg Skills" the module "MarMento: International Mentoring Skills" with the corresponding seminar. Further information is available from the MarSkills examination office (German).

Other students register as a mentor via Ilias (link will follow in September). Priority is given to MarSkills-students. You can participate in the seminar if places remain free. We will inform you accordingly.

Precondition for gaining ECTS: students have to fulfill and hand in the examination, a reflective portfolio. Students who do not want or cannot gain ECTS can receive a confirmation of participation if handing in a short self-reflection and feedback. Further information will be given in the seminar. This option is only available for mentors!
