At the 46th International Congress on the History of Pharmacy, which took place in Belgrade from 4 to 7 September 2024, Prof. Dr. Christoph Friedrich received the Parmentier Medal during the meeting of the Académie Internationale d'Histoire de la Pharmacie. This is awarded by the French Société d'Histoire de la Pharmacie. The award was presented to Friedrich for his scientific work by the honorary president of the French society, Prof. Dr. Olivier Lafont. The Parmentier Medal commemorates the French pharmacist Antoine Augustin Parmentier (1737-1813), who was involved in plant chemistry. Among other things, he recommended the potato as a substitute for bread during the famine of 1769 and was awarded the Académie française prize for his treatise.
