In this workshop, you will obtain a general understanding of the project management methodology and learn how to apply simple techniques for research project management to your PhD project. We will start with the initiation of a project (defining objectives and risks, clarifying expectations), followed by project planning methods (work breakdown structure, time schedule, communication plan) and controlling methods (monitoring and progress control). In order to approximate your actual work situation, we will pick some of your ongoing PhD projects as case studies, apply project management methods, and discuss typical challenges and possible solutions. The workshop will alternate between trainer input and active team sessions.
