Division of Social and Cultural Anthropology
The following pages contain details on the staff, the curriculum and research activities at the Department. The Department has particular foci on conflict anthropology, environmental anthropology and/or the anthropology of nature, visual and material anthropology, as well as Amerindian and Afro-American studies. The regional focus is on Latin America, the Caribbean and North America, as well as Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. In German-speaking anthropology, our Department is particularly recognized for our work on Lowland South America and the Amazon Basin. Another aspect that lets Marburg stand out is the Ethnographic Collection that is connected to the Department.
