Team and Coaches
The Team
We – Marjorie Zehme and Emirhan Serbest – represent the University of Marburg in the 20th ICC Mediation Competition and are looking forward to expanding our negotiation skills and gaining insights into mediation. With psychological and legal expertise, we are interdisciplinary and well-equipped to meet the demands of the competition in systemic understanding and conflict management. With Klara Zimmermann and Jakob Krauß by our side, we have two experienced coaches who can provide us with valuable learning experiences. We are determined to give our best and look forward to an exciting time with this team.
Emirhan Serbest, 22 years old, is studying law in his fifth semester at University of Marburg. Alongside his theoretical studies, he aims to gain practical experience in the increasingly sought-after field of mediation through the ICC Mediation Competition. He also finds it exciting to engage in intercultural exchange with participants from around the world and to learn new perspectives and approaches to negotiation. Furthermore, he looks forward to working as part of a team competing in the event and continuously improving together.
Marjorie Zehme, 21 years old, is a psychology student in her third semester, but she has also decided to start a second degree in political science and social and cultural anthropology. During a volunteer service in Argentina, she gained experience in intercultural conflict situations and is excited to connect this experience with mediation. She sees great potential in this form of conflict resolution and hopes to gain a deeper understanding of mediation as a potential career field through the competition.
The Coaches
for the Marburg Team for the 20th ICC Mediation Competition 2024/25 are Jakob Krauß and Klara Zimmermann.
Jakob Krauß studies law at the University of Marburg in his second year. After his participation in the 18th ICC Mediation Competition, he coached the team of the University of Marburg at the 19th ICC Mediation Competition. In the past, Jakob has been part of teams for several mediation competitions in Vilnius and the Netherlands and worked as a volunteer at the IBA-VIAC Mediation & Negotiation Competition in Vienna. Especially meeting people from different cultural backgrounds has inspired him to continue this mediation journey. Besides his studies, Jakob sings in the choir and plays in the big band of the university. He is looking forward to supporting the next team on their way to Paris and through the challenges of mediation.
Klara Zimmermann studies intercultural business in her fourth semester at the University of Marburg. Following a transformational semester in Norway, she implemented her passion for intercultural dynamics and conflict resolution as part of the 19th ICC Mediation Competition Team, where her team colleague and she managed to secure the second place. After experiencing other mediation competitions in the Netherlands and Austria, she is keen to apply her knowledge as part of the coaches’ team of the next ICC team of her university with a focus on intercultural differences as well as the economic perspective of the conflicts. She is exited for this new role and the upcoming competitions.
