Work programme

HABITAT uses an inter- and transdisciplinary research approach to analyse the impact of extreme weather events on vulnerable patient groups across all phases of life. A total of three so-called "use cases" are being investigated:

1. coronary heart disease and insufficiency,
2. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchial asthma, pneumonia,
3. hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HES) and their complications.

In addition to the studies on incidence and pathophysiology in a climatic context, the data collected will be used to establish building blocks for a climate-related digital health application ("app", "Climate-DiGA"). This deals with the correlations between weather/environmental conditions, individual personal characteristics and diseases in order to establish patient-based prognosis models. The design of the app and its use in the planning of care resources is also being trialled.
