Degree: Master of Arts (M.A.)
Program length: 2 years / 4 semesters (120 ECTS points)
Start: winter and summer semester
Description
The Master program in "Literaturvermittlung in den Medien / Providing literature in the media" creates experts in contemporary literature and its mediation in the cultural sector. The course of study is based on three pillars:
- Through literature and media research-based teaching, it qualifies students to observe the continually changing cultural field, to recognize new things and to identify and analyze them.
- In our editorial workshop, internships and projects, professionally relevant competencies are acquired which enable students to move through a quickly changing economic and media environment.
In addition, literary history knowledge is taught, because it is only possible to understand the present through understanding the past, with comparative material from other eras and contexts.
Major topics
The Master program consists of the study focus areas of "Literary life and media history," "Literature, culture and media theory," "Cultural practice" and the "Final modules." Particular emphasis is placed on an "Editorial workshop" instruction unit, developed especially for this program, and a methodologically oriented academic module that is dedicated to the question of how current tendencies in the simultaneous literary field can be accounted for (and used). In the practical module, students can decide between a traditional internship and a self-determined project.

The objective of the program is to acquire an academically qualified degree that qualifies graduates for independent academic research, for active participation in processes of academic communication and for the application of academic methods and knowledge in a variety of professional fields, particularly in the field of providing literature in the media, and enables access to a Doctorate.
