The purpose of a scholarly review is to summarize, analyze, evaluate, and place within an academic field of study the work that is being reviewed.
This workshop will introduce the components of a scholarly review, and provide participants with resources that describe them. Participants are encouraged to bring their own topics to be discussed within the framework of scholarly review writing.
As with any piece of writing, a review should be checked for correct orthography, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. These components will be addressed both with example texts as well as texts provided by course participants.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
- You will be familiar with the components of scholarly reviews.
- You will be able to work on and fine-tune your own scholarly reviews.
- You will have improved knowledge of basic orthography.
