16.01.2020 Panel Discussion: A Historical Background on U.S. and Iran Conflict: Impacts of Sanctions & the Way Forward (4 Feb 2020)

The panel aims to investigate the historical and cultural background of the US-Iran relationship and possible cultural and religious drivers of tension. In addition, we investigate and discuss the most recent political and economic development of Iran under economic sanctions during the Obama and Trump administrations. We will discuss the way forward in the period after the assassination of  Iran's top commander, Qasem Soleimani, in Iraq on 3 Jan 2020.
