30.08.2024 New Publication: Oil rents shocks and corruption in Iran

In this new study, Mohammad Reza Farzanegan and Reza Zamani investigate how corruption in Iran responds to positive changes in oil rents.

Using various measures of corruption, the study finds a significant increase in corruption following increases in oil rents. The authors also explore the possible mechanisms driving these destructive effects.
