Universidad de Salamanca

Salamanca is about 220 km northwest of Madrid and has about 150,000 inhabitants. Salamanca has been declared a "cultural asset of humanity" by UNESCO.

The Universidad de Salamanca was founded in 1218, and is the oldest university in Spain. The university is also one of the most respected research institutes in Europe. With around 38,000 students at the university, Salamanca is very lively.
