Liv Andresen: Persönlichkeitsspezifische Sprachvariation: Zum sprachwissenschaftlichen Potenzial psychologischer Methoden

The empirical study of personality-related linguistic variation poses an urgent research desideratum for dialectology and regional language research since individual differences in language used cannot always be entirely interpreted. The central question of this paper concerns which psychological variables are relevant for such analyses. For this purpose, empirical studies from the fields of language acquisition, psychology and Germanic linguistics will be discussed. Ultimately, two linguistically relevant personality variables can be localized: extraversion and oneʼs style of information processing. In addition to research-relevant information, the contribution contains hypotheses on the basis of which the scope of psychological methods in dialectology and regional language research will be revealed.
