Am 30. November stellt Prof. Sean Franzel, PhD von der University of Missouri sein aktuelles Forschungsprojekt "Writing Time: The Aesthetics of Ephemerality in Nineteenth Century Literature" im Forschungsseminar von Prof. Dr. Volker Mergenthaler vor. Diskutiert wird über "Goethe's 'The Roman Carnival', its Place in the 'Journal des Luxus und der Moden', and its Afterlives".

Sean Franzel ist Associate Professor of German an der School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures der University of Missouri, Columbia, und arbeitet zur Literatur-, Ideen- und Mediengeschichte inbesondere des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts. Seine Promotion "Connected by the Ear: The Media, Pedagogy, and Politics of the Romantic Lecture" erschien 2013 bei Northwestern University Press. Zu seinen jüngsten Publikationen gehören die englische Ko-Edition und -Übersetzung von Essays Reinhart Kosellecks (Stanford University Press 2018) und eine Sondernummer der 'Colloquia Germanica' zur "Periodical Literature in the Nineteenth Century" (2018). Als Experte für Fragen der Serialität, Temporalität und Materialität von Literatur gehört Sean Franzel zu den internationalen Fellows der DFG-Forschungsgruppe "Journalliteratur".
