The paper aims to examine the relationship between text and image concerning travel writings published in Italian periodicals from the 1930s to the 1980s. How does the significance of images change in these narratives? And how does journalistic storytelling evolve in light of the increasing significance of images? How does the comic, as a quintessential intermediary form, fit into this dynamic?
