Research

Our team is interested in holistic natural product research with a focus on the discovery, isolation, and structural characterization of pharmaceutically relevant specialized metabolites as lead structures for drug development. We apply and develop artificial intelligence-assisted mass spectrometry- and nuclear magnetic resonance-based workflows that guide and streamline our endeavors in interdisciplinary and international collaborations. In parallel, bioactivity studies and ecological investigations on the compounds of interest provide complementary perspectives. We try to understand the contributions of specialized metabolites within the complex interaction networks of organisms from various kingdoms of life.
