14.03.2024 BPC Seminar 9. April 2024, 13 Uhr, Seminarraum 4
We would like to cordially invite you to a seminar held by Véronique Orian-Rousseau, Professor of Genetics at the Institute of Biological and Chemical Systems-Functional Molecular Systems (IBCS-FMS) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (https://fms.ibcs.kit.edu/orian-rousseau.php).
Her research is focussing on the function of the transmembrane protein CD44 as regulator of cellular signaling in inflammation, regeneration and cancer. Her laboratory discovered the involvement of CD44 in the regulation of several signaling pathways, among them Wnt-, HGF-, VEGF-, EGF- and CXL12-signaling with implications for the development and course of many severe diseases such as colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer and breast cancer, leukemia or liver diseases. By designing and utilizing inhibitory molecules against CD44, her lab established the blockade of CD44 as a very promising target in cancer therapy.
