Panel 6: Women as Newly Emergent Political Actors
The focus of the panel no. 6, „Women as Newly Emergent Political Actors“, is on women as newly emergent actors in the struggle for political and state power in different historical epochs. In a European comparative perspective, the political significance and role of women are discussed both in the context of the German revolution of 1918/19 and explicitly female development possibilities/agency in the predominantly male-dominated political spheres of the Dutch states general and the extreme right of Hungary. With the help of modern theories and methods, the specific fields and possibilities of action regarding the hierarchical gender constructions of a primarily masculine and often anti-feminist political culture are to be shown.
