New Normalcy in the Age of Trump

Do the election and subsequent presidency of Donald Trump really reflect a “new normal,” or did they simply bring to the surface deep divides that have always been present in the US? What is their relationship to the recent rise of nationalist discourses elsewhere in the world? In this talk, Prof. Varner will offer “educational and political realism” as a potential framework to address our roles and responsibilities as educators – both in the US and globally – as we navigate the economic, political, and educational landscapes of Trumpdom and Trumpism.
