26.06.2019 Guest researcher Ruslan Baramidze from Georgia
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ruslan Baramidze from Batumi (Georgia) in Marburg. He will be the guest of the Center for Conflict Studies and the Department of Cultural and Social Anthropology until the end of November 2019.
Baramidze is senior research fellow at the Department of Ethnology and Sociological Research at the Niko Berdzenishvili Institute (Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University). He conducted research on Muslim communities in Georgia, state policy in relation to religion, urban and religious Heritage, conceptions of identity and migration. Recently, Baramdize translated the introduction into anthropology from Thomas Hylland Eriksen “Small Places – Large Issues” into Georgian.
His stay in Marburg is financed by the Shota Rustaveli Foundation (Georgia) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). During his journey in Marburg Baramidze will continue his postdoctoral research project ‘Identity, Place and Power: Ideological Dimension of Urban Conflict’.
