12.04.2022 Welcome at the Center for Conflict Studies, Lam-Phương Nguyễn Phạm !
Lam-Phuong Nguyen Pham obtained her Bachelor's degree at University College Roosevelt, where she learnt and became passionate about anthropology. She pursued the Research Master in Asian studies at Leiden University to deepen her regional knowledge. Before joining The Center for Conflict Studies at Philipps University Marburg, she just graduated from Leiden University in August 2021.
Accompanied and informed by her gender equality advocacy, the intersection between gender - politics - violence is of her concern and research interest. Methodologically, Lam-Phuong adopts techniques that are staples of political and digital anthropology.
Working on the research project “Transformations of Political Violence”, Lam-Phuong is particularly interested in the gender dimension of political violence, especially in post-war, post-socialist and developing states. Her observations of election violence targetting LGBTQ+ candidates, the rise of neo-nazi and militarized attitudes among young men who mobilize against feminism serve as the starting point for her academic inquiry. Nowadays, such attitudes are often expressed and exacerbated in digital spaces, where, Lam-Phuong believes, should be the site for more academic research and political considerations.
