13.10.2022 Welcome at the Center for Conflict Studies, Maria Hartmann!

Maria Hartmann (she/her) has joined the team of Prof. Dr. Susanne Buckley-Zistel as a PhD candidate and research assistant in the project Human Rights Discourses in Migrant Societies (MeDiMi). After completing her master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies in Marburg she has worked in the activist and political field for some years with a focus on the Syrian Conflict and Syrian Diaspora in Germany, which is as well her main area of research.
   
Her main interests are located in the entanglement of diaspora studies, collective memory in post-migrant societies and social movements in West Asia/North Africa. Furthermore she is reflecting on the prospects of connecting academic research to political activism as well as matters of ethics in research design.
