03.05.2023 New job opportunity for Eva Willems
Eva Willems joined the Center for Conflict Studies in 2020 as a postdoctoral research fellow in Prof. Bonacker’s team, working on the project 'Politics of Reparation of Victim Organisations’. For this project, she conducted research on the role of victim organisations in transitional justice, focusing on the cases of Guatemala, Northern Ireland and Timor-Leste. In addition, she received funding from the UCLA for a project aiming to preserve the archives of Peruvian self-defence militias, for which she collaborated with scholars and archival experts in Peru. In 2021, Eva's PhD on transitional justice in Peru, obtained from the university of Ghent in 2020, was awarded the Christiane Rajewsky prize in peace and conflict studies and the Romain Yakemtchouk prize in international relations.
Eva will start a new position as a postdoctoral research fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders at the History Department of Ghent University, where she will be conducting research on civilian participation in armed conflict and the ethical and epistemological implications of using archives of non-state armed actors for (post-)conflict research purposes.
We wish her all the best for her future!
