INSPIRE (Integrating Service Learning in Peace and Conflict Studies Internships)

Are you currently engaged in, or have you recently completed, an internship abroad in the field of peace and conflict studies? Are you seeking information, guidance, or a community of like-minded individuals with whom you can share your experiences? 

Students pursuing the German language MA programme at Marburg University or the joint degree in collaboration with Kent University are required to complete a mandatory international internship. However, interning presents a multitude of challenges, particularly in a field such as peace and conflict. 

The INSPIRE programme is designed to facilitate the maintenance of contact between participants and the university, their fellow students and the academic study of peace and conflict. This is achieved through the provision of a joint online forum and regular online meetings, which are accessible to students both in Marburg and abroad. 

Additional to this (peer-based) support network, INSPIRE provides helpful information, alumni reports and guiding time schedules such as milestone targets throughout orientation, preparation, realisation, and evaluation of the international work experience. Students are further encouraged to learn and employ self-/project management skills and summarize their internship experience in form of a creative, career-oriented portfolio.

Finally, INSPIRE facilitates the utilisation, critical reflection and reintegration of established theories and methods from and into academic and field contexts. 

The tutorium (coordinated by Maria Lüdecke) takes place online via BigBlueButton (https://webconf.hrz.uni-marburg.de/n/rooms/mpf-lvh-oqc-bzw/join ). We meet bi-monthly, on every first and third Thursday at 16:00/4pm.

INSPIRE was initially developed during the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Project "Integration of Work-based Learning in Peace, Conflict and Security Studies (INCOPS)", co-funded by the European Union. The tutorium in 2024 is funded by QSL funds.
