28.04.2025 Center for Conflict Studies launches Center Colloquium for Summer Term 2025
The Center for Conflict Studies at Philipps-Universität Marburg is pleased to announce the commencement of its Center Colloquium for the Summer Term 2025.

The colloquium serves as a forum for discussing current research and teaching projects undertaken at the Center. Furthermore, it aims to foster dialogue by engaging conflict-related research and teaching initiatives from across Philipps-Universität Marburg.
Each semester, the Center Colloquium is organised by different members of the Center. This term’s programme has been curated by Myriell Fußer and Anika Oettler.
The series will open on 28 April 2025 with presentations by Filipp Semyonov (University of Marburg, CCS) on nation-building and securitisation in Kazakhstan, and the VORTEX team, alongside Orwa Ajjoub (Malmö University) and Heidi Piva (University of Turin), who will explore coping mechanisms in the context of radicalisation and extremism.
Subsequent sessions will include a lecture by Tania Li (University of Toronto) on the complexities of researcher–interlocutor relationships (26 May 2025), followed by contributions from Stefanie Bock (University of Marburg, ICWC) on the concept of lawfare and Tereza Ventura (Rio de Janeiro State University) on Black mothers’ memory activism (30 June 2025).
The colloquium will conclude on 14 July 2025 with presentations by Violette Mens and Astrid Juckenack (both University of Marburg, CCS) on the knowledge production within radicalisation studies and discursive representations of 'Western' women in Islamic State narratives, respectively.
The Center warmly invites all interested scholars and students to participate in the discussions.
