20.01.2025 Dr. Kristine Andra Avram Post-Doc Fellow in the TraCe Project
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Kristine Andra Avram has recently joined the Center for Conflict Studies Philipps-University of Marburg as a Post-Doc Fellow. Within the Research Center “Transformations of Political Violence” (TraCe), she will assume the position of Mariel Reiss (Acting Chair of Peace and Conflict Studies) until March 2025.
Andra’s research explores meaning-making and interpretative processes in the context of (past) political violence, with a focus on concepts and practices such as responsibility, truth and more recently hope. She investigates how narratives shape perceptions of violence, the ascription of responsibility, and the broader processes of reconciliation and dealing with the past. Currently, she is preparing two monographs based on her award-winning dissertation, which examines the complexity and ambiguity of responsibility practices.
She has been affiliated with the Center for Conflict Studies since 2016 as a Lecturer, while working at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg/Center for Global Cooperation Research in Duisburg. From 2017 to 2022, she was a Co-Applicant and Fellow in the project Ascribing Individual Responsibility in the Aftermath of Collective Violence and Repression: Interpretations of Criminal Proceedings in Post-Communist Romania. In addition, she has lectured at universities in Germany and abroad, including in Ghana and Nigeria. She has also worked as an advisor for a local peace organization regarding arms export control and oral history projects.
We are happy to welcome Dr. Kristine Andra Avram back to the Center for Conflict Studies.
