Quantum materials, like 2D materials, perovskites and functional molecules, all researched at the Marburg Center for Quantum Materials and Sustainable Technologies|mar.quest, offer both exciting progress in the fundamental understanding of matter and solutions to pressing societal problems. Especially the urgently needed sustainable development, for which novel energy materials, semiconductors as well as carbon-based materials play essential roles, is a focus of UMR research. mar.quest brings together different perspectives and leverages synergies between various research areas. The center integrates a critical mass of synthesis methods as well as exceptional capabilities in theory and characterization, which enables research far beyond the capabilities of individual working groups. Hence, mar.quest provides a collaborative platform for cutting-edge research facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations, promotes technological advancements leading to sustainable and transformative solutions for society, and educates future generations of researchers and professionals in these critical domains.
