Academic background
Alexander Lohse studied Islamic Studies and Economics at the University of Hamburg, as well as Politics and Economics of the Near and Middle East at the Philipps-University Marburg. In 2011/12 he spent a semester studying Arabic at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt.
He worked as an assistent in the projects „Dialogforum mit moderaten islamistischen Akteuren aus den Transformationsgesellschaften des Nahen und Mittleren Ostens“, „Islamismus in Ägypten seit der Amtsenthebung Mursis und regionale Implikationen“ und "Islamisten im regionalen Transformationsprozess: Dialog und Dokumentation", which were funded by the German Foreign Office and implemented by the Department of Middle Eastern Politics.
After graduating in 2015, he was a study programme coordinator and lecturer at the Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies (CNMS). Between August 2017 and April 2018 he was Research Fellow at the Department of Middle Eastern Politics.
Since May 2018 Alexander Lohse is Research Fellow in Prof. Friederike Pannewick's research group "Figures of Thought | Turning Points", which is funded through the Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz-Price of the "Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft (DFG)".Publications
