Nils Strecker is a PhD student and research assistant in Prof. Dr. Miquel Pellicer Gallardo’s team at the Center for Conflict Studies. His academic work combines his personal and research interest in local politics and political inequality with his background in economic geography
In his PhD-project “Political output inequality in local politics – An analysis of budget allocation in German municipalities” he analyzes how and for whom German municipalities spend their resources, based on their spatial distribution. At the core of the project is the motivation to find out whether certain socioeconomic groups and/or the ruling parties’ voters benefit disproportionately from municipal spending. He seeks to understand these processes using spatial statistical methods.
