Policy Brief: How to Teach and Learn Human Rights in Peacebuilding in Europe PR6
Project Result 6 (PR6), led by the University of Southern Denmark with support from Stockholm, focused on disseminating the SHARINPEACE project’s findings and advancing its innovative educational framework to a wider audience. Aiming to bridge the gap between education and practice in peacebuilding and human rights, PR6 targeted both academic and policy-making stakeholders. Its key outputs included a Policy Brief titled “Bridging the Gap between Education and Practice in Peacebuilding and Human Rights: The SHARINPEACE Crisis Intervention Simulation,” which highlighted the Crisis Intervention Simulation (CRIS) as an effective educational tool. The brief underscored the importance of involving peace practitioners in academic training, enhancing students' preparation for real-world challenges.

PR6 also prepared an academic paper provisionally accepted by International Studies Perspectives, examining the simulation-based teaching approach and its integration of theoretical and practical dimensions. A focus group interview with CRIS participants revealed the simulation’s value in fostering a nuanced understanding of the interplay between human rights and peacebuilding. Dissemination efforts culminated in the academic conference “Didactic Innovations in Peace and Conflict Research” at the University of Giessen, showcasing simulation-based learning and engaging academics and practitioners. PR6 emphasised interdisciplinary and practice-informed strategies, promoting sustainable models for integrating human rights and peacebuilding into higher education curricula while engaging broader audiences to address global challenges.
