Resources for Teaching and Learning Human Rights in Peacebuilding PR3
The Work Package “Resources for Teaching and Learning Human Rights in Peacebuilding (PR3),” led by Giessen with support from Belgrade, focused on developing a comprehensive structure and syllabus for a two-part academic module integrating human rights into peacebuilding education. Building on insights from earlier Work Packages (PR1 and PR2), PR3 aligned academic frameworks with practical needs to ensure relevance and applicability. Employing the Constructive Alignment methodology, the Work Package ensured that teaching objectives, learning activities, and assessment methods were cohesively integrated. The development process was collaborative, with input from didactic departments of partner universities to uphold pedagogical quality. Key outputs included a syllabus detailing learning outcomes, suggested methodologies, and evaluation approaches, with a specific focus on the preparatory phase of the module.

The syllabus and associated teaching materials incorporated asynchronous learning for flexibility, complemented by synchronous sessions for analysis and discussion. While pilots followed a synchronous format, the module structure enables broad adaptability. The resources also included preliminary online lectures intended as Open Educational Resources (OER), though privacy considerations prevented the publication of practitioner-led videos. The syllabus, designed to guide educators beyond SHARINPEACE, provides flexibility to adapt to various conflict scenarios, including but not limited to the Cyprus case used in pilots. Supplementary materials, such as the guide to conducting the Crisis Intervention Simulation (CRIS) and detailed pilot plans, highlight the interdisciplinary and cohesive effort underpinning PR3, offering educators a robust toolkit to implement and adapt the module effectively.
