Stakeholder’s Perspectives: Exploring Needs and Experiences PR2
The Work Package “Stakeholder Perspectives: Exploring Needs and Experiences,” led by Stockholm with support from Lodz, provided critical insights into the SHARINPEACE project through two detailed reports. It engaged key stakeholders, including students, educators, and policy/peace practitioners, to inform the development of an interdisciplinary module integrating human rights and peacebuilding. Lodz conducted focus groups with 43 students from diverse national and academic backgrounds and 12 educators, generating six key recommendations for simulations in Peace and Conflict Studies. These included addressing students’ varied academic foundations, using real-world cases to enhance relevance, diversifying teaching materials, fostering international collaboration, adopting reflective evaluation methods, and involving practitioners to bridge academic learning with practical application.

Stockholm collaborated with organisations such as the Berghof Foundation, Frontline Defenders, and the European External Action Service to identify the competencies essential for peace and human rights practitioners. Interviews explored the operationalisation of human rights within peacebuilding, emphasising the timing of interventions, actor coordination, and the interplay between local and international stakeholders. The findings highlighted skills such as conflict analysis, strategic coordination, and humanitarian expertise, offering real-life examples to enrich simulation exercises. These combined efforts laid a strong foundation for the SHARINPEACE curriculum, equipping students to navigate the ethical and operational complexities of human rights and peacebuilding.
