Tools for Teaching and Learning Human Rights in Peacebuilding PR4
The Work Package “Tools for Teaching and Learning Human Rights in Peacebuilding” was integral to the SHARINPEACE project, focusing on the technical infrastructure required for the implementation of its two-part module and pilot runs. Conducted alongside the module’s implementation (PR5), PR4 addressed the challenges of developing a shared technical framework across consortium universities with varying IT infrastructures and data protection regulations. While initial plans aimed to create a unified teaching platform, technical and institutional differences, including local system preferences and regulatory interpretations, made this unfeasible. Instead, Lodz hosted online lectures on Microsoft Teams, with other consortium universities participating as external users, and the simulation component was delivered via BigBlueButton, hosted by Marburg.

The evaluation of the first pilot run revealed technical shortcomings, particularly in the Crisis Intervention Simulation (CRIS). For the second pilot, the consortium adopted WorkAdventure, a tool enabling students to navigate 2D virtual environments, alongside Mattermost for messaging. This combination enhanced interaction and immersion, significantly improving the technical experience. However, changes in licensing models necessitated adaptations for future use. PR4 underscored the need for flexibility and innovative approaches in managing digital tools for online education, providing insights reflected in the CRIS guidelines and laying a foundation for future enhancements to the SHARINPEACE module’s technical framework.
