Why Marburg and Canterbury?

The programme in Canterbury (Kent) focuses on international conflict. Political scientists and International Relations (IR) experts teach a wide range of courses on international conflict issues. From the 2011-12 academic year, Kent has established a dedicated Conflict Analysis Research Centre (CARC), bringing together all staff and postgraduate students working in these areas.

Marburg takes a broader approach to the study of conflict. The Center for Conflict Studies at the University of Marburg is the result of initiatives by scholars from different departments, enabling it to cover both violent and non-violent forms of conflict. Sociologists, political scientists and social psychologists teach at Marburg. In addition, the departments of Law, History, Education and Medicine occasionally contribute English-language modules.
