MSc. Seminar: Python Programming for Empirical Management Research

MARG is offering an M.Sc. seminar in the academic summer term 2025. This semester, the seminar is open to all master students specializing within the “Accounting and Finance Group” but also to students generally interested in Accounting and Finance issues. The seminar "Python Programming for Empirical Management Research" aims to provide students with the skills and tools to employ empirical methods and tools to problems within the domain of management and finance research. The course should provide students with all skills needed to write a data-driven master thesis within the school of business and economics. Specifically, the course will examine the following topics:

- Basics of using Python as a programming language
- Employing Pandas to manipulate row-column data
- Sample generation procedures and data cleaning
- Developing descriptive statistics and visualizations of data
- Multivariate tools
- Moving from correlation to addressing causal relationships
The course will be taught in a block-seminar style, with multiple day-long sessions. Please come to the kickoff session for more details.
