Oscar Stolper is an assistant professor of accounting and finance. His main research focus is in empirical capital market research and behavioral finance. He specializes in analyzing the decision behavior of private households in their role as financial market participants from a behavioral perspective and has collaborated with researchers from other universities as well as practitioners and institutions such as Deutsche Bundesbank, to which he has been affiliated as a visiting researcher since 2010.
In a current project related to the field of institutional economics, Oscar Stolper analyzes the use of financial advice by households placing emphasis on the determinants of following financial advice as well as the customer-advisor interaction. At this, the project contributes to identifying the role of trust and the mechanisms of trust formation in the context of retail financial advice which ultimately improves our understanding of the principal-agency problems pertaining to financial advisory services.
