History of the MAFEX
The Marburg Support Center for Start-ups (MAFEX) was established in 1998 as a foundation with the aim of supporting founders from the university on their way to self-employment. Professors from Philipps University have always been entrusted with the management of MAFEX. In 2015, MAFEX was transferred to an academic institution of Philipps-Universität Marburg.
MAFEX is now managed under the name: Marburger Institut für Innovationsforschung und Existenzgründungsförderung (MAFEX).
The institute rests on two pillars of content:
Awareness raising and promotion of business start-ups from universities
Knowledge transfer and consulting in the field of innovation management
In addition to start-up support, innovation promotion is also at the heart of MAFEX's activities.
In the past years, MAFEX has actively supported about 500 start-up projects of students and employees of Philipps-Universität Marburg. Thus, in addition to the field of activity of start-up promotion, the activities of the institute also include the support of established small and thus medium-sized enterprises from the city of Marburg as well as from the region of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in the field of innovation promotion. The activities and services of the "Entrepreneurship Cluster Mittelhessen" (ECM) at the Marburg location were also integrated into the institute.
