Reasons to study IPE in Marburg
The Master of Science (MSc) in International Political Economy is an interdisciplinary- and internationally-oriented study programme. It is a double degree programme offered in co-operation by the School of Business and Economics of the University of Marburg in Germany and the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences of the University of Texas at Dallas in the United States. It combines various important components from economics and political science and emphasises political economy and international relations. Through its specific study structure, the MSc IPE is designed to address the lack of and need for highly qualified social scientists who are both expert economists and political scientists. In contrast to many IPE programmes run by either a Department of Politics or a Department of Economics, our MSc IPE takes a serious look at the often very different viewpoints of each on very similar real-world issues.
Our economics group has a great deal of experience in international Master's programmes. As all economics courses are taught in the English language, the programme is particularly well suited for an international group of students. Class size is small, averaging about 25 students, which creates a personal and intense working atmosphere. These conditions encourage students to actively participate in class and take part in debates on economic theory and policy issues.

Excellent marks for Marburg's economics teaching in CHE assessment
In December 2014, the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) evaluated German Master's programmes in business and economics based on student feedback. Due to low participation rates and student numbers in economics' Masters at many universities, CHE decided not to publish a comparative rating for economics.
However, we received a complete assessment from CHE, and the results were excellent. For example, on a scale from 1 (very good) to 6 (very bad), our students rated the teaching commitment of Marburg's economics faculty as follows:
Relationship between lecturers and students: 1.4
Teaching commitment of lecturers: 1.4
Accessibility of lecturers: 1.5
Informal advice and supervision: 1.5
Overall, more than 85% of our economics Master's students evaluate their academic supervision as good or very good.
