No German language skills are required for the M.Sc. EIB, since all lectures and seminars are held in English. However, proficiency in
German will enhance your options in selecting courses as additional electives. Speaking some German may also facilitate your daily life.Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen Do I have to pay a tuition fee?
In Marburg, there are no tuition fees by law. However, the University charges an administration fee per semester. This fee includes subsidized meals at the refectory and free public transport throughout Germany.

As there are no tuition fees, there are no scholarships provided by the Philipps-University itself. It may be worthwhile to check into the extensive scholarship opportunities provided by the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD.

Upon request, we can issue a so called ‘Eligibility Statement’ that certifies the respective student’s general eligibility for the programme and, in addition, proves contact between the applicant and the Philipps-University. To establish general eligibility, please send a transcript of records to econinst@wiwi.uni-marburg.de.

You will be contacted by the external service provider uni-assist who handles the application process. Normally, you will, within two weeks after the online
application and the postal application have been submitted, receive a notice by uni-assist indicating whether your application has been accepted and is complete or not. Please note that during peak application periods this can take up four weeks.Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen Why do I have to provide a personal statement along with the other required application documents?
The personal statement serves two purposes. First, it allows applicants to explain why they want to study in a programme focussing on Economics, Institutions, and Behavior rather than, say, a general Economics master; why they think they would fit into such a course, and how completing this programme fits into their future plans. Second, we get an impression of your practical English language skills.

Applicants from China, Mongolia, and Viet Nam have to submit an APS Certificate. Please contact the local German Embassy for information.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen What happens if I cannot submit all required documents in time?
All documents must be submitted to and received by uni-assist within the application period. Therefore it is important to take into account that postal mail may require up to two weeks depending on the sender’s location. If you are unable to submit a single document in time due to exceptional circumstances, please contact the student advisory service (econinst@wiwi.uni-marburg.de) for further information.

The University cannot provide direct support in the visa application process. This is the responsibility of the prospective student. If you have received an offer to join the Master’s programme, we can issue an admission certificate and send it via email or postal mail to you and/or the respective embassy.
