Ethnographic Collection
The Ethnographic Collection is part of the division of Cultural and Social Anthropology. In its function as a teaching collection, it helps educate students about museum work. Students learn the handling of ethnographic objects in seminars and independent projects.
A current focus of the Ethnographic Collection is the provenance of African objects, which is being researched in cooperation with the Oberhessisches Museum in Giessen and funded by the "Deutsches Zentrum Kulturgutverluste" as part of the project 'Provenance of Ethnographic Objects from Colonial Contexts in Central Hesse'.
