Centers

Four centers are associated with the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy. This cooperation is characterized by a lively exchange of ideas during seminars and lectures, joint academic programs and research projects, where the members of the departments and centers engage in joint scientific work.

Center for Conflict Studies (ZfK)

The Center for Conflict Studies is an interdisciplinary institution that concentrates primarily on social conflict situations and their resolution. It is characterized by numerous teaching and research activities, as well as national and international collaborations with organizations under public and private law.
Center for Gender Studies and Feminist Futurology

(GER) The Center is a central, faculty-independent institution of the Philipps University of Marburg. Fields of activity are in research, teaching, promotion of young talent and networking. The Center organizes and coordinates the academic program “Gender Studies and Feminist Science”.
Center for Interdisciplinary Religious Research (ZIR)

(GER) With the establishment of the Center, the founders emphasized the need for multidisciplinary research in religion, particularly because religion is a central factor in social and cultural identity formation, but can also be a trigger for ethnic, national and international conflicts.
Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies

The CNMS is the interdisciplinary Center for Near and Middle Eastern studies and collaborates with Faculty 03. With focus on the MENA countries (Middle East and North Africa), Iran and Turkey, the goal is to develop a better understanding of the region overall.
