Research

The Institute for Sociology practices a problem-oriented approach to sociology with socio-political aspirations that generate innovative sociological theories on the basis of clear methodological principles.

Currently, the Institute consists of seven chairs. Research and teaching are bundled in three focus areas: “Theories and Methods”, “Conflict and Development”, as well as “Political and Economic Sociology”. Marburg is known for sociology curricula that emphasize a general interdisciplinary focus and diverse collaborations with partners within and outside the scientific field.
