Digital follow-up care for you
Funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs
In cooperation with the University Bayreuth
Project duration: 2021-2026
The pilot project is a reaction to the increasing numbers of adolescents with obesity and aims to conceptualise, develop, implement, and evaluate a digital follow-up care intervention in the medial form of mobile and web-applications.
Qualitative partial study on the pilot project
From the perspectives of sociology of everyday life and of technology, the qualitative research is interested in the conceptualisation and implementation of a digital follow-up treatment for young people and the "making up people" that takes place in the process. The study asks for the medical-technical categorisation practices that create the person category "adolescents with obesity" in the first place and give it relevance for the self-categorisations of those involved. The research interest here focuses on an app that young people are supposed to use following an inpatient hospital stay. The development as well as the use of the app is examined in the project within the framework of a mobile, virtual ethnography that aims to relate the areas of formation and use of this digital follow-up treatment.
